What are the requirements to run a Proxmox backup?

The Comet Backup agent must be running on the same network as the target Proxmox Cluster, and the Proxmox Cluster version must be Proxmox VE 8.x or higher.

Is Changed Block Tracking (CBT) supported?

Yes, Changed Block Tracking can be used as a Proxmox backup type to read only blocks that have changed since the last successful backup. Additionally, unallocated disk areas are skipped to further improve the backup performance.

Is Comet able to deduplicate multiple VM images together?

Yes, Comet is able to deduplicate multiple VM images together if you back up these VMs to the same Storage Vault. Comet also uses its chunking algorithm to deduplicate different snapshots of the same VM taken at different times, resulting in highly efficient storage use.

What restore options are available for a Proxmox backup?

There are several restore options available. You can restore to directly to Proxmox, Hyper-V, or VMware, or perform granular restores of files and/or folders, or restore the disk image file in .img format.
